What you need

Built for the first night without power.

Most outages last hours, not weeks. These are the few things that make those hours calm.

Light

A warm lantern that charges by USB-C or sun, and gives your phone a small boost.

Water

A simple way to collect it, filter it and store it when the taps stop.

Warmth

Reflective shelters and a windproof lighter for when the heat goes out too.

Tools

A pocket saw for storm cleanup that fits in a drawer or glovebox.

The light

One lantern. Three ways to charge.

The Four-Leaf Solar Lantern is the one thing we'd grab first. It lights a whole room, folds into a backpack, and keeps going when the outlets don't.

  • 2000mAh rechargeable battery, about 5 to 10 hours of light
  • Charges by USB-C, USB or its built-in solar panel
  • Six modes, including soft warm and orange light
  • USB output to give your phone a small boost

Run time and charge time are the maker's ratings. Solar charging is slow and works best as a top-up.

Water, handled

Collect. Filter. Store.

When the taps stop, water is the thing people miss first. Three simple pieces cover it.

Collected rainwater or creek water isn't safe to drink as it is. Filter it, then bring it to a rolling boil for 1 minute before drinking.

Good questions

Before you order

How long does shipping take?

Orders ship within 1 to 3 business days. Most items arrive in 6 to 15 days after that. The arc lighter takes a slower route and usually arrives in 12 to 18 days. Each product page shows its own delivery time.

Can I drink water from the filter?

Use the filter with clear fresh water. To be safe, bring filtered water to a rolling boil for 1 minute (3 minutes above 6,500 feet) before drinking. We haven't lab-tested the filter, so we don't make claims about exactly what it removes.

Will the lantern charge my phone?

Yes. It has a USB output that gives your phone a small boost. Think of it as a backup, not a power station.

Is the emergency shelter a real sleeping bag?

No. It's a light reflective layer that helps hold in body heat. It works best layered with blankets and warm clothes.
